Time & Money

Its shortly after five o'clock in the morning, coffee's on, insomnia hit about a half hour ago and my mind races with the thoughts of the days past. My stomach growling I found my last Muscle Milk and started the toaster for a slice of wheat with some almond butter spread for the coffee to come.
I awoke to a conversation in my head I had the other day when leaving the hospital. A few of my co-workers were standing by the clock waiting. I asked why, their reply, "waiting for the time to change." Aren't we all! The background. I guess seven minutes after the quarter hour gets you the extra pay so I was told.

Anyway, on with my rant. I quickly replied, "time is to precious to wait on the clock, money isn't that important." Money is important and to some the extra money of the quarter hour makes a difference and that's alright.

But to wait...

I value my time, there just isn't enough it seems. Whether it's the few precious minutes leaving work to see the evening sky, time on the river spent fly fishing, or time spent with my children. Time moves too quickly to pit it against the dollar in my opinion.
Days, weeks, and months move by and before I can blink my daughter is growing into a beautiful young woman. Her brothers are not far behind, they grow out of their shoes to quick these days. It seems time will take its toll one way or another. I can't seem to spend enough time fighting off the onset of middle age, both the physical and mental aspects. So, I adapt.

Seasons come and go, before an angler knows it we are in that transition time again. Changes in the hatch, the last few Blue Wings of spring fade into the PMD's of summer time. Rivers' fluctuate with the seasons run off to a summertime mean that is fishable.

All this is sometimes forgotten from year to year until we piece it together and find sense in the cycle of life. With that said I'll take honey with my almond butter.....
